ZIP.
Files that have been compressed with the ZIP format are called ZIP files and usually end with a .ZIP extension. Compressing files like this is useful for transferring them over a modem or for saving disk space. This can also be a special kind of zipped file is a self-extracting file, which ends with .EXE extension. You can unzip a self-extracting file by simply executing it, however caution has to be taken as viruses can be masked within .exe files, and many ISP based email systems filter .exe files out before delivery for safety purposes.
